Rather bummed that there will be only one LD resolution. Having two rezzes was a lot of fun.

Cold reading should be interesting, as well as educational.

I wish the TP rez was just food safety - I feel like having it encompass both agriculture and food safety policy makes it too broad of a rez. Glad I'll be judging rather than debating this rez. XD

Speaking as someone with several small part-time ventures in agriculture and food manufacturing, I'm hopeful there will be some good cases this year. Food safety regulation is a prime example of regulatory capture used to raise barriers to entry and prevent small folks from even entering the market. I've personally had difficulty getting some things up and running due to regulations, and I had one very promising idea I might possibly have had a shot at making a full-time business out of, that I didn't even pursue because there was no way I would have been able to do it legally without some massive capital to invest. One issue I have personally experienced and I personally know others who have too: some of the bureaucrats who staff agencies make arbitrary and draconian decisions that aren't backed up by the law that certainly appear to be targeting small businesses.
Anyway I better watch out before I write a whole essay on the topic, but I think this could be a promising resolution. I share your concern that food safety and agriculture are functionally pretty different policies lumped together.

The LD topic looks pretty interesting (actually another issue I've had personal experience with) but it might get boring after a whole year. I think the wording is problematic though, "needs of the public" is ambiguous.
