We have competitors in 26 states. Already this year, we've had tournaments in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, Texas, Indiana, and Virginia. Between now and Christmas, there will also be Stoa tournaments in Tennessee, Illinois and Iowa (in addition to the previously mentioned states). So, no, California does not host all the Stoa qualifiers. ;) We are a rapidly growing organization.

Say what.

I know most competitors in Tennessee, and I have heard of no one defecting to stoa.

No one has to "defect." We're not enemies remember. :)

Here's the link to the registration page in case you want to go to the Tennessee tournament.

Hooray for supporting other Christian organizations.

I'm not really opposed to STOA. However, people in the east have a different perspective. California unilaterally switched to STOA all at once. When people in the East leave, they basically just dump NCFCA people without any notice, because they think STOA is cooler.

Were you around when the split happened? Because that's not what occurred.

And I can't speak to the attitude of East Coast people, but that's no excuse for being lame and implying that it's a war between the two organizations. That's been a problem for a long time, with people using militarized phrasing. Stoa and the NCFCA are two Christian organizations with the same goals, and very different ways of achieving those goals. Stoa's way works better for me, and the NCFCA's way works better for others.

In California, Stoa took over all of NCFCA's usual tournament locations. So all the tournaments in CA were Stoa. If we wanted to stay in NCFCA we'd haveto go out of state and it was practical for most Californians to join Stoa. There were some California people who didn't switch over at first, but now almost everyone (I can't think of anyone though) are in Stoa now.
Interestingly, at first I was upset about the league split, but we have waaay more local tournaments so that's pretty nice. :)

I agree that the two leagues are not trying to figh against each other; several California people and others did not like NCFCA's rules. This was when they had taken out expos (and OI? I think) so that's kind of how this split started.

Well, this year, NITOC is in Colorado... So... yeah :P

And remember, guys. We're not enemies! We're buddies :D

Guys, I didn't mean anything bad about what I said and wasn't implying that stoa/ncfca were enemies. It was honestly just the first word that came to mind. I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I didn't mean to start a flame war. It was genuine curiosity about one particular state. Chill out haha. :)

Dang. This would be awesome! Will there be any tourney's in the east this spring?
I thought for sure that R8/R10 would be hosting Stoa tournaments before R7 tho. Still, this is cool.

Looking at StoaUSA's calendar, 6/40 tournaments are in California (7 if Modesto has one). There are definitely a few Stoa tournaments east of the rockies.

EDIT: And for those of us living in California, see you at the tournament on Monday!

Looking at the calender, Stoa consists mostly of: Washington, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and California. Stoa does have tournaments in other random places, like Iowa, Wyoming, and Illinois, but it looks like thats it.

Stoa really isn't that big.

Stoa really isn't that big. Maybe I should switch to NCFCA next year. ;)

Don't forget about Arizona, we're in Stoa too. ;) We really don't have much of a choice cause we're surrounded by states in Stoa.

Edit: 300th Post :D

Unless you count the fact that California is a quarter of both leagues already. ;)

Yeah I think the states like: Washington, New Mexico, and Texas are all split between NCFCA/Stoa.

Washington split, but the two of the largest and older clubs (Verve and Apples of Gold) went Stoa. Washington NCFCA and Stoa are both relatively smaller than in past years, though, due to the split.

Illinois is hardly random. It's home to Charge and CIBAD, both accomplished clubs. And that isn't an exhaustive list of Stoa states. Just for the record.

Have you ever been to a California tournament? ;)

Well I guess to judge the size of both leagues, we would need to look at how many people are in each league, rather than how many states are in each league. Also, if the amount of states in Stoa are exhaustive (as you say ;) ), how many states are there in Stoa?

Has either league said how many members are in each league? I guess California is pretty large. ;) But if we look at the overal size, isn't Stoa still a lot smaller than NCFCA? :?
