I know; it's beautiful, isn't it?

143 people.... that's 18 rooms of impromptu. 54 judges in that pattern just for impromptu. Assuming they break to quarterfinals (even that's a little rough-- taking 32/143 people?) they're gonna need almost 200 different judges throughout the tournament (20+10+(5 or 7?)+54*3).

Umm...that's kinda strange. Why did they take away the slot?

Someone posted a new thread confirming that. I didn't approve it because it really didn't need it's own thread and the way it was worded was (possibly accidentally) kind of inflammatory
I'm sorry the post came across inflammatory. I did not intend to convey that kind of sentiment at all. Additionally, I'm relatively new here so I wasn't sure whether or not the post merited a new thread... the dialogue seemed to be occurring on multiple threads so that's why I was confused. I apologize again!

Hey guys. Yes! Blake and I received a slot in Team Policy. :) The Lord is good!!! However, I would like to set something straight. In regards to Shayne's comment: NCFCA did not "Take away" Region 1's at large slot. The individual in Hawaii was unable to make the trip. Then NCFCA tried to roll down the slot to the other qualified students but the same result occurred. Thus, there was an unfilled debate slot to Nationals. NCFCA was then able to reallocate that slot. After thoroughly completing the math, it was found that the slot should go to Region 8. Since we were next in at large, we received the slot. I hope that clears things up. :)

I'm not a huge fan of any of them, tbh. But out of the options, I'll probably vote for the third.

Also, I'm incredibly happy for Blake and Alec.

That being said, I do feel it is a bit strange how that happened. Have they ever reallocated a slot from one region to another region before? I mean, surely there have been other situations where the debater from Hawaii wasn't able to attend?

It just seems like it might have been an attempt to appease the rebellious spirit that had been festering. :P But who knows. I'm the first to admit that I can be a bit cynical when it comes to NCFCA.

Option B all the way. Option C is just a conglomeration of stock drawings, kind of tacky.

To be fair, Alec did say that they crunched the numbers and Region 8 was the region next in line to receive additional slots. ;) Also, due to the districts in Region 8, the SC/GA region had a larger number of TP teams which led to them receiving more at-large points for their tournaments than what we got at our FL tournaments. It wasn't a huge boost, but it was enough so that the two initial at-large slots went to SC teams with Alec and Blake just slightly behind.

Any time Simon says something, you should assume it isn't true unless he proves otherwise. All words from Simon's mouth are guilty until proven innocent.

Number 2 is my favorite for TP. Very solid year with that. All of the LD ones suck.
