Has most homeschool debate discussion shifted to a different platform or did debaters suddenly lose the desire to interact on the internet?

Facebook and a new generation.

That's the running hypothesis, anyway.

^More specifically- lack of "advertisement", so to speak, due to individuals who used this platform moving along in life and not passing it on.

Yup. Basically forums in general have died thanks to Facebook --- HSD isn't alone in this problem. Most of my old haunts are shadows of their former selves.

I feel like HSD developed significant negative connotations in the NCFCA/STOA circles in recent years. My generation never got involved on it in any serious level and most of them disparaged HSD whenever they got the chance. As such, the generation that is currently in debate hasn't even heard of HSD much less want to spend time on it.

Huh, I didn't know that HSD even had a reputation to disparage. Why did they have a negative view? Were they talking about HSD as a whole, or just the quality of the debate-related content?

Mrs Hudson was no HSD fan.

You can say that again. She openly disparaged it at multiple regional tournaments.

^Probably because of a lot of the anti-NCFCA leadership/Mrs. Hudson stances a lot of students/alums argued on here, and some of the more interesting characters that used to dwell here as well. :P

I know someone who signed up for HSD ages ago, posted some discussion, didn't come back, then every once in a blue moon comes back and sees the inactivity and goes "nope, nothing's changed" and doesn't come back for ages again. I think his story is emblematic of a lot of why HSD has fallen by the wayside. HSD is, like Joshua said, not only an unknown website to nearly the entirety of the new generation, but is seen as outclassed in almost every way by new forms of communication. I have gotten a decent number of people to sign up here, but not many of them are still active. Actually, probably none of them are lol.

It still blows my mind how seriously leadership and competitors took the league. That being said, reading up on all the drama here was always a major source of entertainment. I only regret not trolling threads more.

Tunnel vision, man. You know, you think ncfca is life in highschool (or at least I felt like it), and you get out and you ask yourself "was I really that homeschooled" (not to dis anyone in ncfca now- it was overall a good experience). So I can guess that if you get in that leadership role, then you have the same sort of problem of tunnel vision...or a variation of sorts.
