How much do typical tournaments cost for you guys, -travel expenses?
I trying to figure out how many I can make.

------ Edit: Did some deeper digging and found some estimates. On a totally unrelated note, did you know that kidneys sell in the black market for $200,000?hahahaha i do

Off chance anyone is coming to Verdict's practice tournament this Saturday in Sarasota, Florida?

If anyone in RIX knows of practice tournaments in the Raleigh/Cary area, PM me. I'd like to judge, but I never competed up here and don't have any contacts.

Did that last weekend. ;) Only got called an idiot once at the front doors.

I'll be debating at Sarasota even though I graduated.

Look into host housing! That's easily the biggest cost. Ride with friends, or your debate partner, and see if you can get someone in the local club to host you/your chaperone.

I don't remember exactly what it cost, but I had a series of tournaments where it cost very little thanks to host housing and bumming rides in the back of 16-passenger vans.

Historically, there has been one practice tournament (as well as one actual tournament) in Cary each year. I'm in college now, so I'm a bit out of the loop and don't know any of the dates for this year - but you should get the chance to judge at some point.

Just came back from the Veritas Veteran's Day Challenge. Twas fun! Got to see a lot of old friends and judged a round. Also had the pleasure of seeing one of my students taking a speaker award and clinching 3rd with a 6-0 record!

Well RIX just finished our first tournament. All I remember is the top four in debate

LD: 1st Mac Mann, 2nd Samuel Hand, 3rd Noah McKay, 4th Elliot Paul
TP: 1st Liu/Schumacher, 2nd Amedick/Barnes, 3rd Schnoor/Toscano, 4th Bass/Moffatt (we only broke 4 TP teams)

Region VIII finished our first tournament (all-region) on Friday. Outrounds were canceled due to inclement weather (South Carolina is a great state, but a few inches of snow and ice brings everything to a halt). We aren't sure yet if they will allocate at-large for this tournament or if they will count preliminary seeding as final placing, but they did announce breaks. The following policy teams (I can't remember all the LD-ers) have qualified to regionals.

TP: Daniels/Green, Bartel/West, Daley/Schvaneveldt, Gibson/Mansell, Porter/Tryon, Sclater/Thompson, Sclater/Wilson, Babin/Savoie, Canna/Martin, Daley/Proctor, DeVlieger/DeVlieger, DiPrima/Souza, Doto/Rawlson, Belyeu/Singer, Booty/Harper, and Majors/Mansell.

Indiana Qualifier finished up Sat. night. Winners I know off the top of my head:

TP: Bock/Bock

LD: Logan Kolssak

LD Speaks: Hannah Westfallen :D

Apol: Hannah Langdon :)

Impromptu: Hannah Keeton

Open: Hannah Westfallen

Info: Joshua Anumolu

Biographical: Kirstin Erickson

That's all I remember right now... I'm sure someone else remembers more than I do (Or wrote down results).

And yes, that was three different Hannahs :geek:

Moot court was fantastic. I saw my first 'in person' round which was fun (finals). I wish I could've watched the earlier rounds. 10/10.

As someone who participated, I can say that Moot Court was incredibly fun, and I believe it was a great choice for the league. Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Hey, a friend of mine is looking for a partner to do Moot Court with at the NC Open. He's a solid researcher and debater (took 3rd in LD at Nats last year). If anyone is interested, PM me.

Does anyone know if there is a National TP Caselist for 2016-2017? Thanks!
