Best guess for R5 at this point is David/David, Bydalek/Gage, and English/Newell.

Light/Toman: This team is hot hot hot. Like really hot. Blake is pretty much my favorite speaker of all time and Alec is also incredible and they're going to be money.

Sefzik/Sefzik: Another super hot team. simon is good

Abell/Tant: Watch out, cause this team is the dark horse of 2016. One of the top parli team in the nation last year just switched to policy.

I hope you all do realize that Alles/Klaves still have one more year. That's scary. They've gotten second and third at two national championships. They will be incredible this year.
Sefzik/Sefzik will be awesome.

From Region 8 the top two teams are probably Light/Toman and Cash/Wortham. Blake and Alec are both good speakers, and Rachel & Andrew got second at two tournaments last year and broke at Nationals.

Dittoing Light/Toman and Cash/Wortham.

Also adding Bass/Moffatt. They made it to finals in four out of the five RIX tournaments last year, winning two of them. They also placed eighth at Nationals, and I believe the NC Open as well. I fully expect them to do even better this year.

Back in my day, the outstanding teams were really good.

I haven't seen too many TP teams in our region before since I'm coming from LD, but there are two teams that I know will be fantastic this year.

Abell/Tant As Jacob said, they were one of the top parli teams in the nation last year; both of them qualified to NCFCA Nats in LD and broke; and, Joe was the NITOC Tournament Champion. These guys are awesome outside of debate, but they're also two of the best debaters I have had the privilege of debating, watching, and working with. A round with them would be incredible, but definitely challenging.

Ledoux/Lovett From the first round I saw with these two last year, I knew they were going to make it far. And they did, being the only R7 team that broke at nats. Abbey is a phenomenal speaker (as her 1st Place speaker award at Nats goes to prove), and her and Catherine have great, in-round chemistry. They're a team to watch out for.

Back in my day there were no outstanding teams because knowing how to debate was considered normal.

Amedick/Barnes They got to finals twice last year, once at regionals, and won a tournament! They consistently perform well. Both are brilliant researchers and excellent speakers, often winning speaker awards. They've been dominant in our region and I'm sure they'll clean up nationally.

Hungar/Stokke This is a new pairing, but both are qualified in their own right. They both have TP and LD experience, and have been successful in both forms of debate. Kara (Stokke) is a dedicated researcher and strong speaker. Brett (Hungar) is a great strategist and his speaking is top notch.

[Limiting this to teams I have personal knowledge of. Ergo, have seen them debate and/or debated them myself.]

Region 7:
Beaver/Rigby
My former partner is teamed up with the LD National Champion of 2014. Jacob is awesome, and I think Savannah is more inclined towards policy than she was towards LD. They're going to be stellar.

Ledoux/Lovett
They were the only team from Region 7 to break at nats last year, and did consistently well in regional qualifiers and regionals. No reason to expect any less of them this year.

Abell/Tant
Joseph Abell won tournament champion at NITOC last year, and Michael Tant is a brilliant TPer, and won IPTOC last year. They are definitely going to shake up region 7 with a much different debating style than people are used to. Expect them to do really well.

Howard/Howard
These guys broke at regionals as novices and got 3rd at regionals in their second year. They are very relatable speakers, and are dedicated to really stepping it up a notch this year. They will be undoubtedly be a very formidable team.

National:
Light/Toman
These guys are both incredible speakers, winning notable speaker awards in multiple tournaments last year. While I never had the opportunity to debate Alec (who is a really swell guy, btw), I've debated Blake on multiple occasions, and he is an incredible debater. I can see them in at least quarters at nationals, if not higher.

Sefzik/Sefzik
Yeah ok everyone knows this. Also they are both wonderful souls.

Alles/Klaves
3rd at nats two years ago, 2nd at nats last year. There really isn't much more to be said here. They have stellar research, and know how to construct their arguments well, and its worked wonderfully for them in the past two years.

Oh Graham how I love your honesty.

Also: I don't actually know if I will partner with Abigail for sure yet...Just so everyone knows. I am looking over a couple options.

Here are some outstanding, (I repeat, outstanding teams:)
Beaver/Rigby: Jacob is a total scrub and Savannah did kinda win LD nats... And get second place speaker at nats... The same year. Nuff said.
Alles/Klaves: I expect them to win nats. Also they deserve to.
Light/Toman: Both are solid debaters.

my guess for region X is gonna be
Barndt/Blacklock - very solid on evidence and very good communicators
Pomerantz/Pomerantz - Just an all around fantastically amazing team.
Min/Murch - Murch is young and fairly new to TP, but a scary good speaker and Jackson is Jackson - awesome.

Abell/Tant: They're gonna torch everyone. My pick to win nats. They speak well, and their arguments are amazing. Did anyone see their Civ theory LD cases at nats last year?

Alles/Klaves (Sr.): They speak and research super well.

Light/Toman: The best speaking team I can think of. Blake could sell anything to anyone.

Meinerding/Tomlinson: Eric is a fantastic researcher and very organized, and Will has some kind of telekinetic connection with judges.

Rogers/Rolsma: The best impromptu-er in the country + one of the best extempers in R6. Incidentally, Annie won TP speaks at regionals, and Ben won LD speaks.
