Although I graduated after last year and I'm not participating in NCFCA I've seen a bunch of stuff about debate recently so I thought I might throw out there that as the incumbent Region V TP champion, I'm officially endorsing "Fill Scalia's SCOTUS seat with Judge Judy" as the bestest Affirmative case of the year.

Feel free to run this in future tournaments. You can thank me later.

I would pay to see this run at a tournament.

I've been urging people to run a case that reinstitutes the requirement that all federal judges wear powdered wigs.

Be prepared to confuse some judges with this case.

PIC to the previous plans, or just a straight aff:

H1: Boredom.
MPX: Decreased civic participation.

M1: Expand SCOTUS to allow the appointment of every current TV "judge".
M2: President shall appoint said judges.
M3: These judges' votes shall count for 3 instead of 1.
M4: All SCOTUS oral arguments shall be televised. Any station that doesn't carry this programming shall be fined taxed (http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/05/politics/scotus-health-care-tax/) 50% of its earnings during the time it is airing other programming.

A1: Chaos.
MPX1: Increased civic participation.
MPX2: Government makes money.

A2: Freedoms limited.
MPX1: Citizens remember who their daddy is and stay in line.

"MPX: Decreased civic participation."

Just a minor nit-pick or piece of coaching advice. "Decreased civic participation" is not an impact.
It may be a link to something that could turn into an impact, but by itself this is not an impact.
The simple tests for whether something is an impact is,
1) could someone reasonably say "So What?" to it.
2) Who gets hurt/benefited by it?

"Decreased civic participation" - So what? Why is that bad? maybe it's a good thing, if the mob is irrational and fickle and greedy, discouraging them from participating might be good. We don't know until this is impacted.
Who is hurt and how are they hurt if "civic participation" is decreased?
Hurt = disease, death, injury, war, lost human rights, lost dollars, lost jobs, suffering.

The correct structure would be:
Link: Boredom
Link: Decreased civic participation
Impact: Decreased civic particip. causes _____.

...and in the blank is where someone gets hurt. Human rights are lost, democracy is destroyed, jobs are lost, etc.
