I remember the case of Asset Forfeiture as a fairly good one back in Criminal Justice Year. However, back in January the Department of Justice added some stricter limitations.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Friday barred local and state police from using federal law to seize cash, cars and other property without warrants or criminal charges.

I also noticed that neither DFWSD nor Bluebook have it as a case this year (that I noticed), so I'm just trying to verify whether the case is relevant or not.

I don't think this case is topical. That is probably why it isn't in the source books.

What Cyberknight said ;) though I generally agree with Jonah that it's quite borderline. Mostly I broach the subject because I've heard some of my friends say it's a good case to run this year and I'm still seeing articles like this (Published in the last week) talking about the woes of Asset Forfeiture (granted it's about a case that happened 2 years ago and the person petitioning has gotten off).

But is that really what you would want to deal with? The chance of having to argue against topicality every round.

Yeah, it would be a pain. That, coupled with the fact that it's a pretty bad case in the first place, is why I'd avoid it.
