All the Parli qualifiers for the year are wrapped up (at lear, according to the Stoa calendar) and NITOC registration is now open. So, which of you fantastic punk-rebels are going to compete in Parli at NITOC this May?

To start off: I, along with my partner Ty Humphrey, will be.

Grant and I didn't pick up our second check, so we will not be competing in parliamentary. :(

That's sad. :( (question: how do you get check marks? I'm NCFCA so I don't know the whole system)

You submit your scores to Speechrank.com, and then if you are in the top 40%, you get a checkmark. NCFCAers can do it too. I do it, not so much because I want to go to NITOC (I couldn't do two far away tournies), but so I can see where I rank nationwide (not so high, )

That's actually how it works with speech. In debate, you get a checkmark by getting a winning record, but it apparently works out to about the top 40%.

edit: Oh, and it's top 40% per tournament, in case that wasn't clear.

Yeah, you needed two green checkmarks. If you get a winning record (4 prelim tournament winning record is 3-1 or 4-0), you pick up a checkmark. 2-2 and below does not receive one. It works the same way with 6 prelim tournaments, only the 4-2s, 5-1s, and 6-0s receive checkmarks. If you get a winning record twice, you qualify.
