Parliamentary Debate continues to be a "piloted event" by STOA. While Parli will not be competed at the 2012 NITOC, many tournaments will offer it.

While STOA does "run" Parli, it won't be offering it at NITOC. therefore, the movement to have STOA "run" Parli is really a movement to add it to NITOC and/or other states' tournaments other than Texas.

I really, REALLY want Parli to be a NITOC event as Parli is incredibly fun and there are many benefits to doing it. What do you think?

Yeah, I really wish Parli would be a NITOC event. It'd make things a lot easier, especially since, although I'm pretty sure I'll be able to go to NITOC this year, PITOC is probably not happening, if I qualify. (I prolly won't, but if I did, I still couldn't go).

Not for this year. Parli is cool but it hasn't quite picked up momentum across the league to warrant dragging out the NITOC schedule even further for the sake of Parli. I'm actually happy that it's not part of NITOC because it would make scheduling next to impossible.

There's a comments page on the Stoa USA website to discuss adding parli as a NITOC event in 2013.

Definitely stoked for this. Parli is incredibly fun, and way less work then TP or even LD. All it really requires is knowledge of current events and a basic grasp of debate theory. Also, with the only a few minutes of prep before the round and none in the round, I believe it is the best debate event to build critical thinking skills.

Props to the Stoa board for making this an official event, I'm super excited to do Parli this year.
