I don't have a lot of time, either. (school is starting...)

Halogen suggested a game setup like this:
Halogen wrote:
2 mafia - together, kill 1 non-mafia (or no one) at night
1 cop - investigates 1 person per night to determine innocence or guilt
1 doctor - protects 1 person other than self from mafia per night
3 villagers - each day, vote to lynch someone (or no one) just like everyone else

If people would be willing to play a game like this, with very little creative scripting (i.e. "_____ was killed. It is now day." and "_______ was lynched. It is now night."), I *might* be able to host one...

There's a 10 player game I want to start hosting as soon as possible because the setup I have in mind is currently active on Epicmafia and I'd like to experiment with it, partially to help myself understand it better (to play it better) and partially to observe how people play it for the first time without the fast pace of Epicmafia. Could I just start it right now? (It's dead simple compared to the typical HSD mafia setup so I don't need any time to set it up.)

For anyone who's interested:

3 villagers: just vote at day
1 doctor: optionally saves 1 target each night other than self
1 cop: optionally investigates 1 target each night
1 oracle: optionally targets 1 person each night. If the oracle dies that night, the target's role will be revealed publicly in the morning.
1 miller: appears as villager to self when alive. Appears as vanilla mafia when lynched. Appears guilty to cop. Appears as miller when killed by the mafia or when revealed by the oracle.
1 vanilla mafia: votes for night kill alongside fellow mafia members
1 janitor: sided with the mafia; can, once per game, clean up the body of a nightkill victim (i.e. learn its role but prevent the town from learning its role)
1 lawyer: each night, optionally chooses a member of the mafia other than self. That person will appear innocent when investigated by the cop.

I'm working on a mafiaish roleplay game(sort of how the hunger games mafia was run) based on a third world war. I need to knock out the details with someone, so if anyone was willing, could they PM me? If it sparks anyone's interest, the primary parts I need help with are: troop deployment, troop production, resource utilization, and different technology developments.
Thanks! ^^

I gave you a kill AND a distract last game. Where's the love? :P

Anyhow, if this isn't my last night, I think Bee's theory might just hold some water. A few thoughts on the bible verses:

Quote:
I was blind but now I see!

This is a line from the song "Amazing Grace", as I'm sure you all know. The context of this is one used to be a sinner (interpreted here as mafia), but is now saved (interpreted as sided with the town). The only person this is remotely possible for is Drew. What I think this means is that Drew is clear. I am interested, Drew: since you sided with the town, what are your new powers (if you have any)?

Quote:
The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom

This was right at the end of Jesus' crucifixion, if my Bible knowledge serves me correctly. I'm not 100% sure of how to interpret this, but I'm going to take a stab at it: Something earth-shattering is coming. Prior to Jesus' crucifixion, the curtain symbolized the division between God (in this case, David and Blaire) and man (in this case, the players of the game).

On a separate note, have any cool powers (as described in the Role PMs of civilians) been awarded yet? If you don't want to disclose who got them/what powers, that's cool.

Well, I hope to run a Casino Royale mafia game in the future, with characters from the movie, and the play will be based around a Texas-hold-em poker game. (To fill out the roles I'll include random celebrities and professional poker players). Just so you guys know. Probably won't happen for a long time though, looks like.

I want to Run a "War of the Gods" mafia game. Basically it will be the Greek Pantheon vs the Roman pantheon in ancient mythology. The way to win for most characters will be to kill their Greek or Roman counterpart. Thoughts on this idea?

Hmm... It would seem that the game would be over fairly quickly. Each player would only need to kill once to win. What happens if someone else kills my counterpart? Do I win? Or do I lose without hope of winning?

Maybe go the reverse route and have the Greek and Roman counterparts on a two-person team that tries to eliminate everyone else... (I played a game like that before, and it worked well (even with just two-person teams).)

Thank you for your input. I am thinking up ideas for each of the possible characters. I think I will change it up a bit to the point where players gain power with the death of their counterpart, vs winning with the death of their counterpart.

Requesting help! I need someone to harass me in order to finish the mechanics for my game! XD Also, if someone is willing to co-host with me, that would be grand. I'm running a World War 3 game. It comes complete with sometimes inaccurate news agencies, trade alliances, armies, attack and defense upgrade trees, and multiple types of resources! (Yes, it's possible to run, but it's a heck of a lot of work.) I think I need help. XD -waves white flag-

(Can the person who mods the first post undo the strike on my game and just shove it farther down the list. -cringe- I've been procrastinating on writing it out, but I will get it done eventually!)

I'm going to run a Homeschoolers vs. Public Schoolers one later, I'm starting on it now :D

EDIT: Decided to change that to a Mental Hospital one. The HS vs. PS may come later, though.

Oh yes, this reminds me: The Shadow the Hedgehog account will be making another appearance in Sonic Heroes! :D There won't be another "who is it?" type mechanic like in the Shadow the Hedgehog game. But Shadow will be the most powerful character in Heroes mafia, and some of his powers will be dependent on stuff that would obviously and immediately give away who Shadow is. So if whoever Shadow is so wishes or chooses, he will have the option to use the Shadow account to conceal his identity and to conduct PMs/correspondence.

And BTW - the teams were fairly equal in heroes, but had some advantages - Team Chaotix's team blast was ridiculously overpowered in comparison to the other teams, for example.

Yes, some had more power in some areas, but they made up for it in weakness in other areas. Like the classes in any decent RPG, and in Smash too, each character/class has a different specialty, and a weakness to make up for it. For instance(I know nothing about most RPGs, so picking a generic example), a Warrior would have great attack power, but not so much Magic ability :becool: , whereas a Wizard would have great Magic, but not much attack power :ugeek: , And then there's a balanced Rogue 8-) + :geek: . Thus, although some people might be better at fighting as a Wizard, they're all just as powerful in the hands of those who know how to use them. Same here, in giving Shadow special abilities, you're giving Team Dark an advantage w/out a weakness. Unless I'm misunderstanding the whole thing, in which case I've been ranting about nothing. *possible  *

I totally get what you mean. Unfortunately, not everything in a game can be completely replicated in a mafia game. For example, my Shadow the Hedgehog game was a really good example of how to take a game's material and translate it into mafia, IMHO. But there wasn't absolutely everything there. In Heroes, there will be people with advantages, but I am bringing in a LOT from the original source material. For example, there will be flying, power, and speed types in play to give the characters individual buffs and debuffs, like in the original. I can't really tell you more without giving away important information, but hopefully you can see what I mean? :)

Is that including me?

How HSD games typically work is that it's first come, first serve. If you sign up for one of the twelve original slots, then you're in. I may consider doing pre-signups (putting you and anyone else who wants to join on a list before the game starts up), but that's typically unusual.

Alrighty guys. So I'm designing my game (don't worry Locutus/Cashley, I'm not bypassing y'all) and need some input on something.

The game I'm basing mine off of is an RPG. In trying to capture some of the magic of the game, I came up with a very RPG-esque style of game. This RPG-esque game, however, looked very little like Mafia.

My question to you all is this: would you try an experimental RPG type game? I would try to keep it fairly easy to play, of course. Or would you prefer that I stick to more traditional "mafia" gameplay? :)

I would really like feedback on this.

I'd be totally down for an RPG type shindig. Not sure how well it'd translate here, but it sounds like a fun idea to try out.
