Legends are a grey area. They are the borderline between fact and myth. Some people believe them, while other scoff at their validity. The true impact of the told legend is never realized though. Until the listeners find themselves as part of the very legend itself. The legends state that in the aftermath of the creation of the land of Hyrule a great power was left behind, a power capable of granting any wishes of its holder. It was rumored that despite being created by the Three Goddesses, this power was neither inherently good nor evil. It did not discriminate between the two but rather granted the deepest wish of whoever should come in possession of this True Force.
Many years ago a great chasm opened in Hyrule and allowed evil forces to enter the realm in search of this True Power. The armies of evil were lead by a powerful entity by the name of Demise. After years of conflict Hyrule was utterly destroyed through his destructive quest and only a small band of survivors rallied under the command of the goddess, Hylia. In order to keep the True Force out of Demise's hands and to protect her followers, Hylia sacrificed her divinity to imprison Demise with a mighty seal. With her last power, Hylia sent her followers high above the clouds on a portion of Hyrule's land to live in peace far from the reach of the armies of evil on the surface. The King of Evil was defeated and those who remained true to Hylia were saved.
Centuries passed by. The island in the sky became known as Skyloft, the land where Hylians lived peacfully, worshipping their goddess who sacrificed herself for them. The legends of the demons below were forgotten by most and fell out of the typical teaching of the Hylian children. The people of Skyloft knew nothing of conflict because they quickly forgot what conflict was. By forgetting the legends, perhaps they opened themselves to legends of evil being reborn in their age. Time will tell.
Welcome to the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword!
I hope that you've enjoyed a little over a year now of not having to play Zelda mafia, but it's back and ready to party! You might remember Twilight Princess which I had no part in, or maybe you played my first game, Majora's Mask, or perhaps you hopped on the Ocarina of Time band wagon because it was YUUUGE, or there was Evan's great Oracle of Seasons game, or the top pick for mafia games, Link's Awakening (seriously though, if you don't remember that game, do yourself a favor and go read it), or there was the most recent installment which was revolutionary in some mechanics and not so revolutionary in other mechanics, Four Swords. But now we come to the 7th addition, the actual Zelda origin story, Skyward Sword.
Let me remind you of my current philosophy when running mafia games. I like my games to be about the power of the player and not the GM. Once this mafia game is under way I will not make any game changes concerning balancing. The game is entirely within your hands and I will change none of it from the initial rules that I have set up. Also, I should note that there are several possible endings to this game and all of them have been planned out by me at this point and not something that I engineered around your playing. I like to build the mechanics and watch you interact with them on your terms, not mine.
With that said, bear in mind that you will have to play carefully. If you mess things up for your team, I'm not going to balance your mistakes out. Play responsibly.
There are a few aspects of this game that I'll explain later once we're closer to the start. For now, sign ups are open! Sign Up List:
