Years ago, there was a newspaper columnist named Louis M. Boyd who published a daily column of trivia and oddities. I had a couple of books of his columns when I was a kid. Yesterday, I got curious and went looking for details about him, and came across this page that collects some of his highlights. Just reading my way down it -- which takes a while -- I'm up to fifty or sixty that would make splendid material for the impromptu notebook, and I've sent it to my own team members. You might have a look at it. Some of the more outlandish ones you might need to spot-research and confirm with a second source, but it's full of good leads.
